It's hard to believe that this is the last newsletter of the 2008-2009 school year. There have been many changes and so many exciting things that have happened at Willow Park School this year. With the year end events and the construction that has begun, there will much more excitement around the school.
There are still a lot of events that will be taking place this month - the district Track Meet, a Book Fair, the Grade 6 Farewell and Volunteer Appreciation, the year-end Fun Day and numerous field trips. These activities will help us to finish the year off well and to welcome the summer.
At this time I would also like to thank all of the parents, students and staff for all of their hard work, cooperation and support this year in making WPS a great place to learn. Have a great June!

Swine Flu Outbreak
April 30, 2009
Anyone with a fever or cough associated with recent travel to Mexico or the southern U.S. can call Health Link Alberta toll-free 1-866-408-LINK (5465); in Calgary, call 403-943-LINK (5465).
Black Gold Regional Schools will be following their Pandemic Plan procedures as needed. We have been advised that as per our BGRS Pandemic Plan our Facilities Department will be shutting off the water fountains in all schools starting around 2:30 PM on April 30, Thursday afternoon. This is just a precautionary measure. Students are asked to bring their own water bottle from home. The normal tap water is safe, so usingthe sinks at school to fill up a water bottle is also acceptable. These are only precautionary measures and are not meant to alarm anyone. Our School Division website has updated information from Alberta Health as well as a copy of the Black Gold Regional Schools Pandemic Plan.
Thank you,
Mrs. Rhonda Brunken

Our Grade 1, 2 and 3 classes and the School Choir participated in the Rotary Music Festival last month.

Welcome Back! April is the beginning of our final term of the school year and I can’t believe how fast
this year is flying by. With all of the activities that will be happening this month, April is also sure to pass by quickly. There are many activities taking place at Willow Park School in April. Easter activities will take place the first week of April. We also have the School Board in the school for their annual visit on April 9. The Boy’s Basketball team wraps up their season with a tournament this month. Our
Kindergarten registration night for the 2009-2010 school year takes place the evening of April 21. Finally, we round out the month of April with Education Week from April 26-May 2.
Have a great April!
